Stephen Abell to join Pagefield
February 9, 2012.
Pagefield, the campaigning public affairs and media relations consultancy, today announces another high-profile recruit to join its rapidly-expanding senior team. Stephen Abell, currently Director of the Press Complaints Commission (PCC), will become a Partner at Pagefield from April 2012, launching the company’s dedicated crisis and issues management practice and supplementing Pagefield’s already well-established media relations team.
Stephen Abell – also known as Stig – has been Director of the PCC since 2010, having joined the commission in 2001. His current role, managing the commission’s pre-publication advocacy and post-publication complaints work, positions him at the forefront of the current debate about balancing the rights of freedom of expression versus the rights of privacy.
Pagefield’s crisis and issues management service will be led by Abell and will draw on the experience of two Pagefield Advisory Board Directors: Sir Christopher Meyer, Pagefield Chairman and formerly Chairman of the PCC and Mark Bolland, who was Director of the PCC before joining HRH The Prince of Wales’ household at St James’s Palace. The team will work closely with Pagefield’s established media relations team – headed by Kate Levine – and which is already working with high profile clients including Camelot Group plc, Freesat, Jersey Finance and the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation.
Mark Gallagher, Pagefield’s Founder and Senior Partner, said: “Stig is an outstanding addition to our senior team. His media, issues and crisis management experience is second-to-none. Pagefield’s offer goes from strength to strength and I know that Stig’s knowledge and expertise will be a huge advantage to our clients”.
Stig Abell added: “I am delighted to be joining one of the most exciting and fastest-growing agencies in London. We are aiming to do two things in year one: offer the best issues and crisis management service in the UK; and offer some innovative new products in the media relations space.”
Pagefield was launched at the end of 2010 to offer public affairs and public relations services with a campaigning edge. It has 25 corporate clients supported by a 30-strong team of Partners, Consultants, Executives and Advisory Board Directors.
