Pagefield PMQs, 1st July 2015

Wednesday 01st July

Heathrow the key issue this week. Here is all you need to know about this week’s PMQs.

Who won?

Harriet Harman

After an appropriately sombre start to this week’s PMQs, Harriet Harman took an impressively strong line, challenging the PM to get on with it. A firm shift for Labour to support Heathrow expansion with “no further delays” took many by surprise and certainly knocked the PM off-key. Another measured and strong PMQs performance from Harman who is growing into her role – Labour will miss her presence at the dispatch box when she is gone.

Rowdiest Party?

The SNP

Rising Star

Simon Hoare, North Dorset.

Cameron singled out new MP Simon Hoare this week, commending him for his work in lowering council tax to the 2nd lowest in the country.

Best Joke of the Week

Harriet Harman on Boris Johnson potentially having the defining say on Heathrow: “Will the Prime Minister stand up for British businesses or will he allow himself to be bullied by Boris?”

Issue of the Week

As expected, the publication of the Davies’ review into airport capacity was at the front and centre this week. With Cameron prevaricating, Harman seized the chance to underline a much firmer Labour Party line that there should be “no further delay” and the Government should “get on with it”.
