Tuesday 04th NovemberMany of you will already have seen some of the wonderful tributes paid to our dear friend and colleague, Martin Townsend – including this beautiful one from Camilla Tominey. Martin passed away on Friday 17th October 2025, and we at Pagefield are deeply saddened by the loss of a true Fleet Street legend, music and TV guru, and an extraordinary human being.
Martin brought to Pagefield the experience of several decades in journalism. Throughout his time with us, he was a generous mentor to our team, a raconteur of the most fascinating anecdotes, and he provided sage counsel to clients – helping them to find the stories that would resonate across broadcast, national and local media. His media training sessions were delivered with humour and grace, always ensuring his ‘subjects’ were ready for any question a journalist might throw at them.
His integrity, experience, and flair for storytelling elevated every project he touched. The office has not been the same during the past 18 months as he faced – with trademark wit and an inspirationally stubborn defiance – the cruel disease that eventually took his life far too soon.
As we prepare for his funeral on 20th November, on behalf of everyone at Pagefield, past and present, we send our deepest condolences to Martin’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working with him. He will be greatly missed and remembered with immense fondness, not only for his talent and wisdom, but for his warmth, humour and generous spirit.
