Gary Jones has worked in a variety of senior journalistic roles across the political spectrum in a career spanning over four decades.
He spent 28 years at Trinity Mirror which later became Reach plc.
Jones, a former reporter of the year at the British Press Awards, was editor of the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People before becoming editor-in-chief of the Daily and Sunday Express. During this period Jones successfully campaigned on issues ranging from a safety system for the railways, miners’ compensation to securing life-saving drugs for sufferers of cystic fibrosis. He also helped form Power to Change, a charitable trust that supports community businesses. Whilst at the Express Jones launched an environmental and sustainable energy initiative called Green Britain with Dale Vince, the owner of Ecotricity. Jones now works as head of public affairs with Mr Vince.
As part of his charitable work Jones is a trustee of the St Giles Trust, a Tall Ships Youth Trust advisor and co-founded the Children’s Parliament.
