Challenge
Pagefield was hired by Sportening – a new football-focussed vertical social media app – to support their launch out of beta stage following a seed fund round. Pagefield was tasked with establishing awareness of the app amongst investors, the media, the tech community and most importantly potential users.
Approach
We prepared clear messaging for why Sportening was the all-in-one sports app for true football fans. From this, we developed a compelling launch story using the financial contribution of world-class footballer Luka Modric as a media hook. We worked with the client to produce pieces of content with Luka – including a Q+A on his playing career and high-quality visuals – which we used with major outlets to secure coverage.
Alongside this launch story – which we pre-briefed to key publications – we secured a number of interviews for Ivan Klaric – Sportening’s founder – on the app’s foundation. On top of this, we supported the client by advising them on graphics development for use in the media.
Results
Following our launch story, we secured over a hundred pieces of coverage on the app, including on the Mail Online – the UK’s most-read website – with various pieces syndicated across the USA, Asia and Europe.
We also secured a number of interviews for Ivan with key start-up and business trade magazines. This coverage combined helped attract users to the app – with Sportening hitting 500,000 users recently, putting them on the map with mainstream media and fans in the UK.
