Challenge

An emerging player in the insurtech scene at the time, Zego partnered with Pagefield in 2018 to establish and then increase its media profile ahead of a period of exponential growth. Central to this challenge was bringing to life the vision of its founders to use new technology to revolutionise how insurance is delivered.

Approach

We devised a long-term PR programme with the aim of turning Zego into the UK’s most well-known insurtech company, while emphasising its unique point of difference vs traditional insurers.

Becoming Zego’s press office, we secured regular meetings and profile interviews for CEO and co-founder Sten Saar with key journalists across national and specialist press, allowing him to tell the company’s story, outline its bold ambitions and establish valuable and long-lasting media relationships.

We also created a consistent pipeline of corporate stories and product news, overlayed with feature pitches to draw out compelling customer case studies. Our focus also extended to turning Zego into an industry thought leader, while raising the profile of the wider leadership team.

Our programme was peppered with several peak moments such as Zego’s Series B and C fundraises and the company becoming the first insurtech to gain an insurance licence. In each, we intensified the journalist briefing programme in the build-up, generating a buzz that would translate to national column inches.

Results

Zego has grown rapidly, raising more than $200million in funding and becoming the UK’s first insurtech unicorn. The company’s media reputation has not only mirrored this journey but has been a key ingredient in its success.

A constant presence in insurance, fintech and fleet press thanks to a drumbeat of positive coverage, Zego has also been profiled by the likes of BBC, Sky News, The Guardian, The Telegraph, London Evening Standard, TechCrunch and Sky News, providing a platform for future growth.
