Challenge

Harvey Water Softeners is a UK-based, market-leading water softener manufacturer, providing a range of soft water solutions to UK homes in hard water areas – these include water softeners, water filters, jugs, taps, and more. Pagefield provides comprehensive public relations support, including activating creative campaigns.

Approach

We developed a number of campaigns to communicate the issues created by limescale build-up in domestic homes, including the damage to heating systems, impact on carbon emission and the cost to the consumer. To effectively communicate these messages, we designed an infographic which used striking graphics in a simple ‘flow chart’ to explain the issue to consumers. To supplement this work, we have also offered trials to prominent consumer technology publications so they can see and feel the impact of a softener in real life. Finally, we used an interactive postcode tracker to tell stories of limescale build up at a local level, to generate local and regional coverage.

Results

We secured coverage for our infographic in The Daily Express and notable consumer and lifestyle titles including Good Living Magazine, which has a readership relevant to Harvey’s consumer base. Our regional campaigns have generated hundreds of pieces of coverage across the Reach network and our trials programme has seen Harvey engage with consumer technology publications such as Which? and T3.
